Okay, the real important stuff is done. All that's left is to mount some lights and fenders, repaint, and finish the tie rods. I still have the temporary rods on there now. But I can go and get dinner!

Great job, Kid...!!
The only fishing bikes we see along the canal here are ratty old 2-wheelers with some PVC duct taped on the frame.
With that fancy rig, the fish will be jumping just to get a ride home with you..!!
Good luck and bring home lotsa fresh catch.

Cool! My son and I are planning a 2 night camping trip to a place about 25 mi south of my house in Washoe Valley, NV. We're going to bike down there and then get up nice and early and catch us some fish. We'll get there on a Friday night, fish/hike all day Saturday, then fish and ride home Sunday morning.
I've got to figure out a trailer for everything including food. Should be fun!

:) Good luck, and have fun!
BTW, you make welders, bikes, and coaster trikes, and trailers, do you make your own rods and reels as well? It certainly wouldn't surprise me! :D
BTW, I didn't have any PVC long enough to make the rod holder, so I used a piece of aluminum tube from a patio umbrella. It's even lighter than the PVC.
Now if my neighbor doesn't go out on his deck...

I probably *could* build my own but I don't think it would be profitable ;)
I really like that trike. The more I think about a long haul bike for bike camping the more I think a trike would be so good.
I wonder what a LWB tadpole trike would look like?

After I broke my leg, I decided to only ride trikes and quads. I liked the Meridian a lot. I made a plan for a tadpole Meridian, which turns out, Brad made in 2000. He posted a pic of it in the old forum. It became the original Marauder.

The Streetfox evolved from several designs, one of which was a LWB tadpole. The frame twisted, and bent the shock mount. I had a 20" rear on it at the time. I went back to the normal swb tadpole at about the time the Streetfox was in planning. That's where the angled crossmember came from. I had different kingpins that also bent, so I went to the headtube design. I don't have the pic of the LWB version, but it's in the old forum somewhere.

You could do something like this:http://www.atomiczombie.com/gallery/jackb/trike.htm

Yes, the Blue Anomaly has been discussed many times. It's a beautiful machine. Too heavy for me, unfortunately, because I wanted to build something like it when I downloaded my first plans, the Overkill. I wanted to replace the PVC quad I had, and the wide wheel would make balancing easier. Then I thought it would make a great LWB tadpole. However, the quad was way too heavy, and I wanted something lighter, so I started building a variation of Tim Smith's SWB tadpole, with rear suspension. It was going too slowly, so I tried the DW, and started that when Brad revealed the Meridian. I wasn't sure of my balance on a bike, but it looked so easy to ride, and easy to build. I liked the higher seating position, and the BB below the seat. After I broke my leg, I thought it would be easier to build the tadpole with square tubing, and as I was building it, Brad was designing and discussing the Streetfox. Eventually, I built a modded version, which is what I have now. Along the way, I kept running into snags, like easy mounting and dismounting, steering positions, etc. Since I wasn't using headsets for kingpins, USS became the best method of steering, allowing easy access. If I had used the headsets from the beginning, I would have gone with the half a handlebar in each headset setup.
I think the LWB tadpole failed because of the suspension. If I try it again, it will be a non suspended trike.

Just admit it, Kid. You get more enjoyment out of modding, than riding! ;)

I refuse to ride anything I can't comfortably get on or off, nor anything that requires too much effort to operate. I will mod it until I'm satisfied. I've been riding this trike for a long time while still making changes. I won't stop improving it until I'm satisfied 100%. That may be never, as you have observed.
The seat is the next major mod, but the boat seat will do for now.

Personally, I thought the seat you built was nice, myself.
It LOOKED more comfortable than the boat seat.
Was it just not quite right for ya' or something?

Probably a lot of truth in that. Back when I was in high school, in the Devonian Age, I loved to build those Heath Kits. I remember I built a nice stereo receiver and almost never listened to it. Integrated circuits - what are those? The joy was in the building for a lot of us.

I like building anything, but if it isn't right, it isn't done. The mesh seat is very comfy, but it was getting harder to ride in such a laid back position. The glass seat is adjustable, so it can be laid back or upright, but it isn't finished. The cushions are more comfy than the mesh. The boat seat lacks a neck rest, which I will add later if I use it for another project, and also needs reupholstering because the vinyl sucks in the summer. Otherwise, the boat seat is between the cushions and the mesh as far as comfort, and the upright angle makes riding easier than the mesh seat. Another option would be to make an upright mesh seat.
The tubes for the cane and the rod are held on by the screws that hold the back of the seat to the hinge. To add a neck rest, I could just use two 3' lengths of 1/4" thick aluminum inserted under the tubes, with the padding between them at the top.

I like the cane tube, Kid. I have to use one myself, from time to time, but fortunately I'm not at the point
of needing it all the time, so I don't need a way to carry one with me on one of my rides, YET.
If & when I reach that point (needing the cane constantly), I'll copy your idea of a tube for carrying it.

If you use larger tubes, say 4", you could also carry a couple of lengths of steel tube and or some flat bar, etc. so you don't have to use the gas guzzler every time you need some small stuff.
