Nearly finished building my tadpole trike and need advice on chains.

Is their different chain strengths and how are they rated. Or what is recommended?

I used a CN-HG53 and the chain keeps on breaking but it could be me not joining the chain correctly or the chain could just be too cheap

More info needed about your bike...
"...HG53 is designed for use with Shimano Hyperglide (HG) series 9-speed drive-trains..."

Some of the new 9 speed chains need special links to rejoin them, before any of us can comment constructively we need more information , some of us have been using our trikes / bikes for more than 3 years without any chain problems - it could well
be you !

Using a narrow chain with a wide sprocket can cause the links to separate.

Thanks for the feedback I am sure it is something that I have done, maybe not joined them correctly. I also having some problems setting up the front derailed so I might take it to a bike shop and get someone to have a look.
