I thought this one should be moved into the new forums, there is a lot of valueable information in this thread (and many other threads as well). I think everyone here should go through the old forums and find at least a few of thier favorite threads and copy them to the new forums. When you do copy them, you will have to go through the pasted version and remove all the old icons and emoticons to be able to make the post. If we all do this, it will accomplish a few different tasks....
It will ease up Kat and AZ's work load....
It will show the newcomers to the site that while the forum itself is new, the site and the community have been around for a while....
It will help preserve an incredible wealth of information.

Posted - 11/02/2007 : 20:53:46 This is a question for you lucky individuals who have completed the DW and have ridden it in inclement weather (specifically rain): How is the spray pattern from the rear wheels? Would rear fenders be considered mandatory if one were to plan on riding the DW much in rain or would wet weather gear keep most of the spray off? The reason I ask is that I remember getting pretty much a straight line streak of water up the back of my pants when I rode a regular bike without fenders in the rain. Thanks for the input.
Aint this a great forum!?!?!

Yeah, he made those himself, Pagan. I e-mailed him about it awhile back. Those fenders really make it, don't they?
Personally, I think that's the sharpest looking DW I've seen yet, followed closely by Richie Rich's beautiful yellow machine!
When I build mine, I'll be happy if it looks HALF as good as one of theirs!

Posted - 11/03/2007 : 12:06:14 I agree 110% with you Joey. As for the front wheel, I have seen on line stores that sell a bicycle mud flap, similar to ones used on cars and trucks, but downsized for use on a bicycle. I am sure that would prevent most, if not all of the spray from the front wheel spraying the rider.Edited by - Pagan Wizard on 11/03/2007 14:10:19

Posted - 11/03/2007 : 22:37:04 Growing up in the rainy Willamette Valley of Oregon I thought rain was natural. We had 2 rainy seasons: Jan-Dec and Dec-Jan. I got used to rain gear if you wanted to ride year round. But I always disliked wet soggy shoes all day long. So I started attaching one of those little mud flaps to the front fender of everything I rode. It worked great. It would catch all the spray and direct back to the ground and away from the toes of my shoes. Inexpensive and hard to beat.

Living as I do in the Willamette Valley, I agree with you. The rain is surely a constant at times but the beauty of this place that it produces sure makes up for it.
Ride on!!!

Pagan,
I sent the plans the 13th and resent them this morning. I wonder if your e-mail has a spam guard or filter that might be blocking them. If so that might explain the parts thing also. I sent 2 this morning one with the .jpg and one without.
