I have a question about Drawing 1 in the plans. It shows the dimensions of the mounting tabs for the front tires. The drawing shows the holes being 3/8" from the edge of the tab, but the hole is made with a 9/16" drill bit. Isn't that awfully close to the edge? I measured while making them and it seems very close, possibly even cutting all the way to the edge.
If I move the holes up a little, will it significantly effect the plans?

If you drill a 9/16" hole with the center 3/8" from the edge, as the plan suggests, the edge of the hole will be .09475" from the bottom of the tab. That's slightly less than 1/8", and slightly more than 1/16". Since the tab is a full 1/2" thick, That's plenty strong. As a matter of fact, if you were to use disc brakes and wanted to be able to remove the wheel without removing the calipers, you could cut the bottom out completely, and the wheel would still stay in place. I did that on one of the prototype steering knuckles on my tadpole, and had no problems, even with a 3/8" thick mounting plate.

Hope this is understandable and helps someone...Heck...I hope it's just RIGHT!!;) I measured tire/wheel centerline to centerline of tab..2 1/4 inches. I measured 11 1/2 inches from baseline(the floor) to top of tab. I drew my "Imaginary Line", then lined everything up and screwed it to the plywood with drywall screws to hold it still while I spotted it with the welder...
Both sides are exactly alike...so...if the first one turns out to be wrong THEN..!!! I'll start over!:o
