AZ, when you're wrapping up a new build, do you go ahead & cable it for testing right then, only to have to re-cable it after painting?
Or do you wait till after painting to cable it & adjust everything?
I've been cabling & adjusting for testing, then dismantling everything for paint, but I really hate cabling a ride twice.
Especially when I accidentally booger up the end of one of the cables the second time around! Grrrrrrr!!!!

I cable and do seat coverings after painting.

Thanx. I'm thinking about doing it that way this time, even though I'm kinda scared to wait till after painting to do the "crash test".
I'm always afraid some unforseen problem will rear it's ugly head, causing me to have to do more alterations of some sort, or Heaven forbid, more WELDING, after I've already painted it!
I'M SO AFRAID! HELP ME, OBI-WAN!

Ok, top secret info to follow....
I have a set of test brakes and shifters ready to drop on any bike for testing before painting. I also have a test seat that is hinged in 3 places so I can mess around with it.
This way, I can fully test a vehicle before painting, and then add proper length cables.

Ah, good thinking! I like the sound of that, thanx.
Looks like I'm gonna have to set myself up a set of "test bars",
with long cables, shifters, & at least 1 brake lever.
Kinda the best of both worlds, huh?
