After grinding, sanding etc. on all my perfect welds I would fall back on Bondo and it works. Mixing the two parts is a pain and it sets up so quick I got tired of it. Try using Devcon Metal Patch & Fill. Has about the same consistency as Bondo and dries quickly, hardest after overnite, solvent based so no mixing. I cleaned up with Acetone. Less than $4.00 local hardware for a tube that will do the whole machine with a little left over.

Some of us use glazing putty, or spot putty available at auto parts stores. No mixing, dries fast, can be used over primer, and a large tube is 4 or 5 bucks, enough for 2 or more complete projects.
