Anyone have an idea of how these type would work? And would they save work? (I'm fairly certain they would cost more) Could these type wheels be used?

These particular ones come from the Aero-Rider website.

Those are Skyway graphite wheels with 1/2" bearings for a 1/2" axle. I believe they cost $100 each.

Too small for the uses we have here?

Personally, I'm skeptical about using 1/2" stub axles. However, there are many tadpoles aropund that use them, including some that are commecially produced. Some use wheelchair hubs with QR axles. Brad doesn't recommend them, opting for the 14mm. If the OD of the bearings in the Skyway wheels are 28mm, they can be changed to 15mm. But then you have to get 15mm axles that step down to 14mm. The bearings are available from bike part sites. They should be able to supply the axles as well. Just call before you order. I know of one site that sells the bearings:

The axle kit would be similar to this. I don't know what size this particular axle is.

Mag wheels and axles less than 12mm will not work on a trike unless you are slow and weigh less than 150 pounds. The mag might be ok as a read wheel for the StreetFox, but I would still be leary about it taking all that side loading.

The wheels Jim is talking about are for a faired tadpole HPV designed to run with or without a motor. The optional mags are graphite with aluminum hubs, much stronger than the normal bicycle mags made from nylon or PVC. If I'm not mistaken, these Skyways are capable of using 100 psi tires, unlike the cheap mags that warn against inflating past 40 lbs. These things are pretty cool, and the whole kit costs about 2 grand with shipping. It's a rectangular frame, and the seat is built into the fairing. I think it weighs something like 75 or 80 lbs.
