This area is for general talk about anything electric. Discuss your projects, ideas, and share the wealth.

It is a federal offence to mention petrol burning engines here!

Outstanding.
Since Detroit isn't serious about producing electric cars for the masses, it's up to we happy few to create electric vehicles in our own workshops.
Once I carve out some project time this winter, I plan to build an electric LodeRunner as my primary personal vehicle. Eager to see what you have in mind for the "CycleBully".

It is my goal to complete the CycleBully this weekend. Next year, we are going to get much deeper into small electric vehicles as well.

I hope interest remains high!

I am (plenty) old enough to remember the last energy crunch... I even constructed an electric wind generator then. But energy prices normalized... and well... everyone lost interest.

I have the time... (and even the tools) and have given some thought to finding a small enough car.... and big enough electric motor.

I hope you help keep the movement going!

I'm looking at some Chinese 10" 60V 1200W hub motors, I can get a pair for 400 shipped right from china. I want to build a e dunebuggy for out at camp. I also have been thinking about making a samll diesel 10 horse motor and gen combo to power the buggy using biodiesel of course. My friend Bill runs 2 90 amp alternators on a diesel 10 horse and it idles all day on 4 litres of fuel ad it kicks out enough power to run the camp, and charge the batteries for all night use.

Thats how some of the earliest cars worked. I guess it's also how diesel-electric trains are set up. It makes a lot of sense. You can run the engine in it's optimal power band all the time for peak efficiency and don't have to mess with a transmission or drive-axles.

Well I can't afford all that fancy smancy electric stuff.
But I did get a 25cc weedwhacker given to me today.

Runs great but the output shaft halfway to the head is busted.

Time to make a mount and find a clutch and figure out some stuff for smog power>>>>

Nelson you can make a really cool powered skateboard with that. I know guys who made a homemade muffler to kill the buzzy noise, and lower the dB's
