Does anyone know if these hubs can be immersed in water? They say "water resistant" but if I go offroading in my planned buggy, I want to be able to get through to my camp if the road is wet, and go down trail sections that are waterlogged. We already have raised crossings over the stream so we don't disturb the stream bed.

No they cannot. If they get soaked on the inside, the hall effect sensors will fail. Water damage can also create a failure in the bond between the aluminum shell and some of the steel parts.

Sounds like you might be better off with a Scott 2.5HP or Etek motor placed higher up running through a chain drive.
