After watching the Tesla roadster video I was thinking about batteries. I noticed they used laptop batteries, in fact a lot of EV companies do. I also know compared to the average batteries we source they are pricey. What I was wondering was, has anyone tried the automotive spiral cell batteries for their projects? You can pick up a spiral cell at just about any auto supply store. The deep cycle cells run for around 180 a piece. The other battery that loos probable (mainly due to cost) is the gel cell wheelchair battery. At half the price of a spiral cell they are appealling, but weight is a major factor.

I think the king of this technology is the Optima Yellowtop. I will be using these in my electric motorcycle project.

They don't seem too into the used stuff anymore, but there are two guys just outside of town with over 1000 used bikes for sale. One place is called Over The Hill Sports, and he is said to have thousands of motorcycles for sale cheap.
