In thery yes, however you would be better off using a batery designed for "deep cycles". A normal auto battery is designed to delever alot of amps in a short burstwhile starting , then resting and recharging while the engine is running. he auto battery has other porpeses in the system to but the starting is its main function. If you draw a normal car battery down to low to frequently it will not recover .

A deep cycle battery is designed to be drawn down repetedly with little or no adverse efects on the performance of the battery.

The small sealed batterys, gel cel, or lithium ion remain the best choises.:D

I think if you are using lead acid batteries the AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries are the way to go these days.

gvb is right. A car battery just won't hack it. You need a deep cycle battery and even then you shouldn't discharge it too far and it should be recharged as soon as possible after use.

Do you have a motor already in mind?

another point to ponder, The deep cycle batterys used in RVs are heavy, way to heavy, they weight35-55 lbs each.If you plan on running a 36 volt system the vehicle would alone would weigh 100+ lbs. that is before the frame, wheeles, or the oink fleshy thing riding it.
