Hello from Madison, Wisconsin! I work at the University and live a few miles away in Fitchburg, and am tired of the parking tickets and gas expenses, plus there is a bicycle trail leading from near where I live which goes to the campus. I am thinking of building the Street Fighter and putting a full fairing on it (ie, make it into a velomobile) for winter use.

"Black side down"?!! What about if I go with white tires or something?!!:p

Anyway, I haven't done anything but buy the plans for the StreetFighter (and StreetFox and Load Runner), and the Evil Genius and BBB books, and already I am thinking of modifying the plans. Being a pessimist, I want disc brakes on the front, as well as the back. Other changes, incorporate the cargo capacity from the Load Runner, and maybe make some fenders to go with the fairing-- kind of like a 1920s or 1930s car.

Well, my lunch break is over, so I'd better get back to work.

I forgot to mention: burn through a few print cartridges and a bunch of paper printing out the PDF one and a half times (printer screwed up about halfway through doing the even numbered pages). I may have to re-do a bunch of the pages if I want easy to use pictures!

I may use the facilities of a local bike cooperative-- although they are only open on Thursday nights, and I work most Thursday nights. Plus, they don't have welding facilities (which got explained to me multiple times by the woman showing me around-- who also explained to me multiple times that I wouldn't have time to build a bike that night, so I guess that is just the way she is), and the person I needed to talk to about welding wasn't there that night. On the one hand, getting my own welding stuff could be handy, on the other I am actually hoping to save money, and, unless I start doing welding for other people and/or building and selling custom bikes (a co-worker told me that "if that thing is fast" she might want one-- without defining what she meant by fast), I am not certain I want to invest the money.

I need to come up with a parts list, and see how much all this will cost. (Actually, a parts list would be nice in the plans!)

Hey, how long have you been working on those trikes, anyway?!? :)

Hey blupe in Madison, WI! Used to enjoy taking family trips to your city, but haven't been there in many years. Welcome to the AZ Krew!

Thanks!

(Hey, the forum doesn't let me off with a simple "Thanks!"-- it insists I type more, even if I can't think of anything intelligent to say... Sheesh, forum, I'm still trying to recover from being sick, give me a break, why don't you?!?)

Hello! I've got some relatives in that area-- (Palantine? or something like that? is where they live. My geography is a bit spotty.)

Palatine is two towns over from PW, I'm closer to them than he is. :p I'm in Rolling Meadows, the first town over.

I used to drive through Fitchburg on my way to our old property in Ferryville, near the Mississippi river. My wife and I used to call it SonOfABi+chfurg (no offense, we always seemed to be going through when there was massive traffic). :)

Fitchburg isn't even a real city, actually. In the late 1970s or early 1980s (I've forgotten exactly when), the city of Madison was threatening to expand, and people in the areas it was threatening to expand into got together and decided to incorporate as a city. (There was a loophole in the laws concerning becoming a city, and Fitchburg's creation got the loophole closed afterward.) That is why, when looking at a map of the area, where is and is not Fitchburg doesn't make any sense, and why "downtown Fitchburg" is an oxymoron. (And why a friend of mine and I laughed at an episode of "Supernatural" which was supposed to take place in Fitchburg-- someone just chose the name off of a map without any actual research.)

Anyway, the section I am living in can be either Fitchburg or Madison depending upon who you are talking to-- neither city wants it! :D
