Just came across this: http://www.samagaga.com/differential2.html
Greenspeed is using this on their delta trike.

This looks like a good set up, quite versitile. I looked all over the web site but could not find a price. Any idea?

Probably need to email them: webmaster@samagaga.com
I just went and looked it up. I won't be needing this for a few months yet.

Kinda makes me wonder how this would do on the Delta Wolf!

This is the type used in many commercially made trikes...

It has a 1-inch axle, but the one used in my 'Chopper' trike has a 3/4-inch axle. Click on the address below and then click on the Chopper link to see how it's mounted.

Yes, I am thinking of using the big differential for a this piece of junk Rhoades car I picked up. What commercial trike makers have a differential?

Worksman cycles im pretty sure use a differential design. I'll let ya know a freind just bought one and I have to assemble it for her when it arrives.

Thats a good price -- I found one for go carts-- 161$. 1" axle -- big.

Here's one I found during my search
http://staton-inc.com/Details.asp?ProductID=3305

you don't want to see the prices the pedicab parts places get for these things
http://wheelgoods.com/store/drivetrain-parts.html

But I ended up cheaping out and just went with one wheel drive on my pedicab-the other wheel just free wheels, this is the same set up the pedicab I rode for the last 2 months had and it works good enough (at least for the area I ride in) that I'm not going to spend $75+shipping for however much improvement that would get me.

I have a copy of a forum thread from the old AZ site that talks about building one. The link to the pics is gone but it was essentially bolting a BMX freewheel to each side of the drive gear, axels attaching only to the freewheels. Sounds like it should work.

2 freewheels is not the same as a differential. With the freewheels it will force the drive side to turn the same speed as the SLOWER of the 2 drive wheels- which is the INSIDE wheel during a turn- this is exactly the opposite of what you want, especially at low speeds, which is where all of this matters. I do allot of low speed maneuvering with my pedicab and having a differential would allow the outside wheel to be the driving wheel no matter which way I was turning, having 2 freewheels would be like always having the inside wheel driving and if the turn is tight enough the inside wheel is stationary- guess what happens when all your power is being applied to a wheel that is stationary and can NOT roll...Once you're rolling fast enough that sharp turns aren't going to happen none of this stuff matters.
