A buddy was watching me set up cable guides and asked why I didn't just weld some old guides on. The reason is - I forgot to do it before painting. Then I told him I also forgot to cut some more off the tubing I saved from donors for exactly that purpose. He asked "a stupid question". " What if, before welding the tube to the frame, you put a few 1/4" eye bolts and nutted them inside the tube, then welded the nut to the inside of the tube?"
That would work. On long runs, where the guides aren't near the end of the tube, you could simply weld the eye bolt to the outside of the frame, or run the cables internally.
