Brad, just thinking out loud here...any benefits to suspension on a SF? This will be custom built for me so possibly an adjustable seat, but permanent BB. Possible electric assist.

Just curious if you've done a study on this?

I have thought of it, and will be doing a quad suspension when I built the tandem quad next year.

My plan was to pivot the entire rear on a large balljoint and have two springs on each side. This gives the rear independant suspension rather than stressing the boom. A pair of gocart springs would be best, allowing all 4 wheels to conform to the ground as well.

You will need to lift the low part of the frame by 6 inches or so.

Interesting thoughts. I'll have to do some more Lego research.

Thanks for the input. Still waiting on the electric assist mod to show up!!

Front Suspension::sunny:
Take the shock absorbers out of a front loading washing machine, make a bracket to hold the 14mm shafts and mount the shockers to the bracket, then get a bit of pipe/tube that just slips over the top of the shocker, and join the tube to the front T-piece, as though it was the bearing set. Remember to make your bottom mounting bracket just loose enough for the wheel to turn on the bottom shocker bolt, and the top tube shorter than the actual travel in the shocker and allow your steering linkage to turn the wheel. You could also use a micro bearing set for the wheel to turn in, that attaches to the bottom of the shocker.
If needed, pair a set of shockers to provide adequate bounce.
