I need a 3' length of pipe for the steering on my Street Fox. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. If someone can tell me specifically where to get it or has a piece left over from theirs that they would sell me, I'd appreciate it.

You could also use a similar piece of square tubing. As long as the ball joint bolts fit into the tube, you will be fine. If you trust your butt joints, weld some chain stays together - that would also work.

Yes, 1/2" square tubing works fine. I have it on my Fox. If you're using male tie rod ends, you'll just need two jam nuts to thread onto the rod ends, and weld a 3/8" flanged axle nut on each end of the tube. That way you could make adjustments. To make adjustments easier, use a left threaded tie rod end and a left threaded flanged axle nut on one side. What's nice about the square tube , is that you just use a 1/2" wrench to adjust the steering. I changed the tie rods to 3/8" solid rod threaded on each end. I still had the square tube in this pic.

Thanks. I had thought of that, but I felt like the round pipe would look better (more manufactured).

You might look at Tractor Supply, I found some there at our store in Brownwood. There should be one in Denton.

I got my tube from Home depot. Lowes and ACE and True Value had similar parts.

I found it at Tractor Supply. Thanks! I'd never been there though it's not far from my house. They didn't have it at Home Depot. I wasn't expecting to find it where I did. I was looking for pipe, like long stuff. It was in 3' sticks in a display with dowels and stuff.

For future reference, if you can't find a piece of metal anywhere else local try these folks.

Their prices are reasonable and they will ship anywhere! Even Canada!

If you can get 1/2" tube of any thickness just make 6 cuts on the end of the tube a little longer than the width of the nut you are going to use.
Flair the sides of the tube left by those cuts outwards so the nut will slide into the end of the tube.
Squeeze those sides back together to clamp the nut.
Coat a bolt with grease and screw into the nut at least 2" into the tube.
This keeps the nut reasonably square on the end.
Weld the open sides of the cut tube to the nut.
Smooth round when done and it looks neat.
I chuck my steering arms into a hand drill and use fine emery to polish the filed weld.
