A few months ago there was mention that Harbor Freight had discontinued their 6" chop saw. Well a couple of weeks ago my local HF store here in Southern California began stocking them again.
I bought one for a not on sale price of $39.95. What a handy little gem this thing is. Just like the comments I saw on this forum. It manages size wise to cut 1-1/2" 16 ga square tubing, but that is just about it's limit. My old 14" saw will see a lot less use from now on. That sure pleases me.

I just bought this one from northern tool. I had one from homier, but it just conked out recently after using it for a little over a year.

That looks pretty nice....and free shipping to boot (lower 48 states only).

It just arrived. It's raining, so I won't be using it yet, but it's heavier than the $20 model from Homier. It was shipped faster too. I waited 2 weeks for shipment from Homier. They're no better than HF in this area, and Homier shipping rates are higher. I ordered the new one from Northern on Thursday.

Yes. After just a few cuts, it went out of kilter. I have to shim one end to get a 90 degree cut. The same thing happened to the one I bought from Homier. I finally got back one of my 10" miter saws about a month ago. I use a 10" cutoff blade for metal in it, and get perfect cuts every time. It's a cheapie Delta from Home Depot, $130, about 5 years ago. I've seen better quality ones on Craigslist and E-Bay for $30 - $50.
