I have been considering using a mid drive later on down the road. The main reason is that it looks like something I could do on the cheap, I'm just not sure if it is worth the effort or not. I have been looking at this to build of off. http://www.electricvehiclesusa.com/product_p/ki-sd-600a.htm

I would appreciate any thoughts or opinions yall might have.

Thanks

I looked into this alot before I got my gas assist for my recumbent and found that the best out there was the system from Ecospeed ( www.ecospeed.com ) in Portland, Oregon. That being said it isn't cheap but they only do recumbent mid-drive and thier best system claims mid 30's for speed and up to 120 miles on a charge if you pedal with it.

I will probably put electric drive on a trike I'm looking to build after I build the Tourmaster this winter but for my commute (53 miles round trip) I needed speed but I am unable to charge at work (State Government) and the gas motor was 1/4 the price. Also my motor is a 4 stroke so I can fuel at any gas station (love the funny looks when I say fill it up and all they can see is the bike) and I don't have to mix gas.
