The link below is to an RM125 conversion that will use the 6-speed gear-box and a completely re-worked Unite MY1020 motor (the discontinued 1200Watt model)... For now it is using a PicOx Ver 1.02c open source controller that can deliver 48V at 75 Amps peak...
Though before the spring of 2009 arrives I hope to have it upgraded to the Ver 2.00 PicOx that supports an LCD screen, better safety & security features than the Ver 1.02c

Frank,
I've always wanted to get into metal casting. I could make so much more on so little.

Macka/Dude,
Thanks for the feedback... This project has been even more enjoyable than many of my past builds, due to the addition of the "Video" component...
I guess because it's a new set of skills and another way to document a project...
As to Metal Casting, it definately opens up possibilities for projects that otherwise would just not be do-able.

Frank,

Hi macka,
Go look for Dave Gingery's "The Charcoal Foundry" I think Lindsey Books has it.
There's also another book with an updated gas burner and blower to make (Can't put my hands on it at present and can't recall the title). I used his blower and a kerosene burner of my own design.
I used the charcoal at first though when I built the metal lathe but it's a bit messy.
So far I've built a Gingery Metal Lathe and Shaper as well as a heap of castings for friends.
Its great fun. I have all the Gingery books.
