There's a guy in Boston, MA who owns several of these (see below). They're not cheap....around $12,750 (US) each. He brings them into the city and takes the tourists on a scenic ride. They're also hired by large companies for the employees to ride around the company campus to break up the workday.
Plus, it's a cool way to pick up chicks.....click here... :jester:
(This has to be one of the WORST promotional videos I've seen. Be sure to watch it to the end).

...? I would have sworn that video came from the late 1950s or early 1960s! Only it was copyrighted 2004...!
The only woman whose smile did not look forced was the one petting the puppy.
The eBay auction was interesting, too. I am not certain I understand the "free shipping" part, and his later mentioning that if you were local, you could come and pick it up and save shipping. And bidding only got up to $1,750...
OMG, I just clicked on the Conference Bike web site...! I can't tell the gender of half of the people in the large photo on the left side of the screen.
Is it a company or a cult...?!:jester:

Is it a company or a cult...?!:jester:I believe they're employees of the Hermaphrodite Bike Company. They make the popular unisex bikes. :stooge_larry:

A wonderful piece of engineering. I bet the transmission took a lot of planning to make it work.

Actually, Brad, the 'transmission' is something that has your ingenuity written all over it......there is none.
In front of each rider is a pedal assembly attached by chain to a single speed freewheel which is mounted on a very short, horizontal shaft suspended from the frame on a bearing.
The 7 short shafts are connected end-to-end via universal joints all around the outer frame of the bike. In effect, a continuous circular driveshaft. The cumulative power is directed to the drive wheels via a second freewheel and chain from the driver's driveshaft.
Very simple.....

DavoThe bidding ended, but it didn't sell. There were 5 people interested, but the highest bid was $1725 and it didn't meet his Reserve.
