First of all- Thank you for your books. They have given my creativity a more organized feel. I am working on an all terrain Gladiator. I am running some 30x9 1/2 in the back and a 26" knobby up front. I am hoping the 18 speed gearing will give me what I need to get it moving. I should have some pics to post soon. Thanks again.

Here are a couple of pics of my all terrain gladiator in a mock up. Still saving my pennies to buy the last few parts I need to complete the project. Enjoy!

Cleyhorn by themselves the rear tires looked big but mounted on the Trike they are HUGE that is going to be a killer ride when you get it done.

I am going with the 18 speed transmission from a mountain bike. Going will be easy, it is the stopping that I still need to work out. I haven't been able to find a cheap disc set-up, so I am thinking on designing my own using an old car rotor and a couple of cantilever sets. Any thoughts?

Cley you might take a look at Moteurheads Chops new brake setup something similar might work on your trike as well.

Everything is starting to come together finally. I am trying to come up with a inexpensive brake system. I can get a new mechanical disc set-up for $40, but I would like to try fabricating my brakes from a motorcycle hydraulic setup, has any tried this? Any advice?

If you used an older bike system that didn't use anything to assist the master cylinder like they do in modern systems, you could make areal bike stopper, but you'd need the complete front brake set up from a smaller bike like an older 125 or 250 dirt bike.

As a long time motorcycle rider the only problem that I see
is the caliper on a motorcycle does always have a little
pressure on it which means the brake pads will always
have some drag on the rotor . Tats just what I've seen from my
motorcycle riding days

Well she's a roller. I still need to deal with some chain alignment issues and some other finish work before paint. Enjoy the pics. http://i44.tinypic.com/2nkrqxl.jpg

I am thinking either "Sassy Grass Green", "Sub-Lime", or "Hemi Orange" (70's Mopar colors). I like the way they go with the flat black. My wife let me weld it in the basement, but she draws the line at painting. So I need to wait for some warm, dry days to get my paint sprayed.

My vote is for the "Sub-Lime"! I love that with flat-black accents! Mopar Rules!:jester: Although they don't/didn't ever make a Suburban, dang-it!:jester:

Once you get up to speed, I bet you can coast the entire street!

You have build not only a rad chop, but an energy storage device in the form of dual flywheel power.

See Joey, others can do it too!!Actually, I built a coaster-brake tranny myself, Summer before last,
when I first got into this stuff, for the Gladiator, but that was as far as I got,
other than hackin' the center out of ONE of the rear wheels.

Now, nearly 2 years later, I still only have those same 2 parts (nearly) completed...

This is what the hub looked like before I dismantled & cleaned it up:

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/8288/trikezillahub1.jpg

...and THIS is what it looked like after tearing it completely apart, & rebuilding it from the inside out.
It was the first time I'd ever had one of these apart, & I wasn't sure I'd be able to get it back together,
but I did, it actually worked, & looked fairly decent, too!

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7851/trikezillahub3.jpg

My weasley little half-brother has been tryin' to con me out out those tires
ever since I cut the center out of the first rim, but I keep tellin' him,
"No, SOMEDAY I'm actually gonna finish the darn thing!"

I debated a little on how to go about a seat. When I destroyed the motor in my car I had my answer.

that looks kool, have you rode it yet.

do you have any issues with wheelies

cleyhorn

It rides nice and smooth. It tends to pull to the right when you are first starting up, due to the left wheel drive and no weight up front. I am going with a single caliper brake on the front wheel for now. It stops ok if you can keep it from locking up. I can leave a 45' skid mark when I lock it up at speed. I need to build a tensioner for my secondary chain and then paint it. I had to list it on craigslist today due to the fact that I need a new car (I am hoping it doesn't sell). If any one is interested let me know. I am going to keep working on it and the price will keep going up.

Well, she is complete! I am going to be taking her out to the local bike club's Gravity Shootout on Saturday. We will see how she does on the down hill run. I will post some pics tomorrow, but for now I have an onboard action video of my first crash up on youtube.

Cool, but I'm trying to figure out if you were going to jump the fence or if you were trying to crush the bikes (Monster Truck Style)!:jester::jester: LOL!

I was trying to park on top of the bikes for a dramatic photo, the roll was not antipacated. I went on top of the white car a few times over the weekend, but I sold it yesterday and can't use it for trike parking any more :( . Here are a few pics of the final product.

I took the trike out to the Gravity Shoot-out put on by the Wichita Coasters Bike club. I wasn't the fastest thing out there, but I looked good going down the hill. You can see a couple of videos of the event

I would bet you rolled the farthest at the base of the hill.

Great vids. It was amazing that the supine Tourmaster-looking bike with sand bags was faster than the quad with full fairing. I guess the two big wheels just had a lot less rolling resistance than 4 small ones. Your Gladiator came out nice.

Thanks! The full faring (actually a roof-top ski rack) clocked a top speed of 33.2 mph. The other bikes top was only 32.7. We had a blast, can't wait until the fall shoot-out.
