I met Bob last weekend and his trike is even cooler in person. The picture doesn't do the welds and attention to detail justice. He has an electric motor driving the LR wheel and the bike gearing drives the RR. He also shortened it front to rear and it has a really tight turning radius.

I will leave it to Bob if he wants to share any more detail or information.

Thanks Greg.

I am really interest in the motor setup and specs and I would love to see some detailed pics as I have a similiar motor (his looks like it is geared). The fact that it is a LodeRunner makes it even more interesting as I am leaning toward that as my next build.

Patrick, his motor is a single gear but it goes to a much larger gear on the LR axle. the gearing you may be seeing is probably the regular bike gearing which is attached to the RR axle. Hopefully Bob will give more detail.

The Electric Loadrunner is my build I used a 36 volt 600 watt gear reduced scooter motor from tnc scooters. I have a 13 tooth sprocket on the motor and a 16 tooth freewheel on the axel. My only problem has been to small batterys. I have 18 amp. SLA batterys and they are not holding up. I built another trike for a friend with 36 volt 750 watt motor 35 amp batterys they seam to be doing better. The 750 watt motor is not gear reduced so we have 11 tooth sprocket on the motor and 110 tooth sprocket that I laser cut for his trike.

Hi Steelman

Do you have more pics of the motor setup.

Thanks
Patrick

hi steelman your mates trike holds out better because it is geared different the bigger the rear sprocket the essayer the motor works if you were to put the same size sprocket on your trike it will work better. other than that you could try bigger amp battery's i use a 11 tooth on the motor and a 65 tooth on a 12 inch wheel and it is good for 20 mph even with me on it. i hope that helps

From what I've been reading, the controller may have something to do with the batteries not holding up. A heavy duty controller may require higher AH batteries, or the controller may not be fully compatible with the motor. Several other factors may be in place.

Hey Steelman, glad to hear from you on the site. I really enjoyed seeing your trike the other day.

I will send pictures as soon as I figure out how. I may know how to weld but this computer thing is new.

Great work, you've done something very close to what I plan on doing with my delta wolf except you are far more the craftsman than I am :)

Prior to building a bike, I used two 1k watt scooter motors and a pair of controllers plus four marine deep cycle 95 AH batteries to build a little scooter thing. It was deemed "unsafe at any speed" by my wife and so it's now becoming a much slower toy for my daughter and I'm building the wolf with the intent on using the same motors. I used tncscooters.com for my parts too - they are great.

Mike

P.S. Could I pay you to make me a laser cut sprocket? That's actually the part giving me the most conceptual trouble now. Can't get a sprocket even close to large enough for the 3k+ RPM that the motors do.

I laser cut a 110 tooth sprocket for a friend of mine. To cut one I have to know a few things
1. Motor RPM
2. Motor Sprocket teeth
3. What Chain
4. Wheel Dia.
5. Top Speed you would like
