Hi, I'm looking at the StreetFox plans, and I am very interested in building one. Problem with that is a lack of welding experience and equipment. I would be very interested and grateful to find out if anyone might be willing to mentor a fledgling builder in this project. Just as a note, I'm a 23 yr old married female with a fairly decent mechanical skill set. If anyone has any suggestions for other options, I'd definitely be open to them.
Thanks!

Cheri we love making peaple mental um I mean mentoring peaple around here . I say go for it . We have several new members going through the fun of learning to weld and all of us started somewhere . I will admit thats about the only thing I havent been able to get The better half to try yet is welding otherwise if something needs done around the house and I am to slow she will try to tackle it and worst case is she makes it an imediate need for me to step in and help :D. She even changes her own oil now although I usually have to break the drain plug loose and retighten it when she is done :D. I started my first trike a while back look up in the strretfox forum for the Babystreet fox thread.

Yeah, I change my own oil when feasible (we don't have a garage, so winter oil changes are usually done elsewhere), I built us a new bed frame/platform thing yesterday, and I have started volunteering at a local bike co-op fixing donated bikes to get them ready to sell. I'm still familiarizing myself with the bike stuff (tore down and rebuilt one when I was in middle school), but I'm getting there. I'm in love with the Ice Trice QNT, buuut it's would take a LOT more time to save up to buy one of those than it would take to build my own. I already have some ideas for modifications to make to it. I need to make friends with someone who has welding space, tools, and skills! I make good cookies and I am a dog trainer, so if someone wanted either of those in exchange would be alright as well!

Cheri look into your local trade schools and comunity colleges and see if they have welding courses . Thats a good way to learn and if its a night type class they will usually let you bring in your own projects and help you with them :D. I would say if you were closer you would be welcome to come over and learn here but I am much closer to Cinci. than Columbus although we have freinds up that way. I lived in Greensprings ( Upper sandusky ) for about 6 months way to cold up there for me :D.
