Wife already named her bike and I barely got started building it.

She always said she is the Queen B from hell so she named her bike the same.

Rear triangle is mounted to main boom, seat tube is mounted, worked up a way to not have to cut weird fishmouths, but not sure as to structural integrity of main tube.

May have to add a brace here or there.

Cut my crossmember tubes today.

Cut and ground down my bottom bracket, that haro bmx racing bike had a very nice 3 piece aluminum crankset.

Cut the forks off the haro and the other bmx bike I got, cut the bottoms off to 1 inch, and got them ground down, cut my head tubes off and ground them down.

Her bike will have just a single chainring up front, seeing how I have no 3 piece triples for hers, will have a seven speed rear so should be fine.

But then she don't wanna go fast just go in comfort

Tommorow I am going to cut those two head tubes down to 3 inches each and shorten the fork stem's to match, like the lower profile looks much neater and not so long.

Then I can start grinding out my fishmouths for head tubes and fire up the welder.

I really wish I had a camera so I could post pic's.

Well thats it for now, more to come later, and I will try and find a camera to borrow so I can post some pics on my yahoo group and link em to here.

Well today I Got headtubes cut down, and fork stems, crossmember welded, head tubes welded to crossmember, main boom section finished , starting to look like a tadpole.

Tommorow will be reinforcing main boom tube with some angle iron, getting front wheels attached to crossmember, and working on tubes for front brakes.

Got to find some new bearings for one of the headsets, just noticed a bearing missing in the race.

Also will try and get spring attached to seat post then it will be at a rolling frame stage.

I am in real need of a camera, mikes wife has one but she wasn't home all day so didn't get pictures I wanted.

Got to find some tie rod ends locally, but if they cost too much will order some from bigbearing store again.

Will try my best to get some pictures tommorow.

I know Zombies Love Pictures even more than BRAINS......

Well Nuts.

I got axle mounting tabs drilled finally lol (spent 4 hours trying to drill through 1/2" thick piece of steel with dull drill bits lol.)

First 5 I drilled went through smooth as silk, but when I got to 1/2" his drill bit couldnt cut butter.

Ended up finding a cobalt reamer in tool box, the thing is 30 years old and reamed the holes in 3 seconds, Got to love the old stuff, they used to know how to make stuff.

Got my frame reinforced also and that was about it.

Tommorow will get those tabs mounted on and get my wheels on, and get the rear triangle mount finished.

Then off to the store to see if I can dig up some tie rod ends.

Still no pics she wasnt home again and can't find her camera anywhere lol.

More Later

Well did not get much done at all today.

Got my tabs welded on for rear spring.

And had to bust a weld and fix a slight angle in head tube on left side.

Now I think I over corrected it other way lol.

Funny thing is I put a level on it and made a tack weld checked evrything twice it looked perfect.

Took it off welded it all the way now it's like 3/8th's of an inch off level.

Can't really see it to look at it unless you put a level on it.

When I push bike forward on floor it goes just a little left not much at all.

Think I am going to just leave it and see how it rides.

Maybe I can grind down a washer with a slight angle to it and shim it we shall see.

Tommorow got to go get some 3/4" square tube and make my brake arms.

MAybe get some tie rod ends and get them mounted, then work on bottom bracket, and a seat.

Weld problem.

I had the same thing happen on my marauder. I cut the weld with a hacksaw opposite the bend, clamped and rewelded. The result was no better. A welder mate told me to grind off most of the weld on the opposite side and then run a nice hot bead to shrink it into line. I tried it and it worked spot on. Might be worth a try.

Here is ball joints I found at local mower dealer they are mtd ball joints, made by sten.

Notice they are not just a spherical rod end but an actual ball joint.
Too bad they only come in RH threads but I can adjust them so thats all that matters I guess.

Hey GB, what kind of seat is that on the Wolf in the background?

gbbwolf

That seat is a plastic racing bucket seat from an old stock car.
I don't care for it but mike loves it.

Did get as much done today as I would have liked.
Got my bottom bracket mounts cut and ground.
And got My steering arm made, good old piece of 3/8" round, and tap and die set, and 30 minutes of threading it and one complete steering arm lol.

http://d.yimg.com/kq/groups/22086635/sn/2021245170/name/HPIM0241.jpg

went and picked up 2 free bikes or I would have got a bit more done, was also kind of lazy today lol.

Helped mike install a jack on front of his trailer also, so guess I didn't do too bad.

Tommorow's list.
1 bottom bracket welded up and on trike.
2 figure out my seat.
3 figure out what freewheel I am using.
4 maybe get chain on bike if I can find some suitable chain.

Well did not get much done at all.

Cleaned his garage couldn't find stuff with all his mess.

Got my bottom bracket welded up and got my seat made.

Well got a rough in seat made.

Got to get wife onto the trike so I can make final seat adjustments.

Think I am going with the 3 piece haro crankset from the bmx bike up front and a 5 or 6 speed freewheel in back.

More tommorow.
And more Pics.

Well I had a lazy day today did get wife down the street to finalize seat dimensions.

Got her crankset in place for test fit.

Going to use some memory foam mike had lying around for padding, and he has some leather for the seat.

Wife is being shy for the camera LMFAO.

Tommorow get my seat finished and bolted to trike, scrounge up some chain,
see if I got enough money for a front pulley, and maybe make a backrest.

Well I got the seat mounted, and spent 5 hours on about 20 different handle bar designs.

None of them worked like what I wanted.

Funny thing is when I got home I looked at an old 3 speed granny bike I got for free and It has those granny handlebars on it.

Think they are going to be the ones I end up using.

http://d.yimg.com/kq/groups/22086635/sn/79384005/name/HPIM0250.jpg

Well more pics tommorow forgot to take camera today lol.

Well got my seat covered and wife wants a neckrest so I made her one.

http://d.yimg.com/kq/groups/22086635/sn/1647652033/name/HPIM0263.jpg

Will get padding and leather on neckrest in the morning.

Also got my handlebars cut and on trike.

Looks like they will work great.

Tommorow will finish neck rest get front brakes mounted and maybe figure out what chain I need.

Weird thing is the sprocket looks more like a regular sprocket than a bmx sprocket.
http://d.yimg.com/kq/groups/22086635/sn/518892759/name/HPIM0266.jpg

Will check both types of chain tommorow and figure it out.

If I get chain and brakes on it maybe I will get her to take it for a spin, maybe not though high is supposed to be 36 tommorow afternoon.

More pic's here.

Wife took her first test ride with no brakes yesterday.

Went pretty smooth.

Found a few bugs in it, went and bought some new bearings and new star nuts for tightening up the threadless headset.

Project will be put on back burner a few days.

Got a trailer to clean up for landlord it was abandoned for 2 years, he finally got title for it and wants to rent it out but it is TRASHED bad.
