Hey Brad - I got thinking today that the TourMaster would make a perfect bike for someone wanting to do an electric assist.:sunny:

If you look at the frame it is perfectly sized between the top and bottom tubes to install enough batteries to do at least a 48 volt setup, or a 36 volt and an additional 12 volt for lights and stuff.

In the attached picture of my stripped down frame, the 'cage' is set up to hold the 12v 9.5Ah AGM battery that I use for my lighting system.

It's just a thought but more people might build one if they thought of it as a hybrid rather than just building the more 'sporty' looking bikes. I just don't think a lot of people realize how comfortable and balanced (stable) this bike really is.

My two bits.

Agreed... perfect electric base vehicle. it would be like a recumbent version of the Silent Speedster with assist.

Greg - great job on the frame -- and I agree about the comfort and that it would be great for an electric setup - however, for me, the style just does not do anything for me- no offence. I so much like the styling of the Meridian over the Tourmaster but the TM frame just lends itself to the electric set up better. I would love to make a Meridian but there is no place for a large bank of SLA's so one would have to go with the ridiculously priced highend batteries.

Maybe if the seat and BB moved forwar a battery box could be made behind the seat, hmmm...

Anyway -- I am looking forward to seeing your finished product - you might just sway me toward your design - good luck.

Patrick - if you look in my other thread 'Starting Tourmaster....' and scroll down a little I have already finished it and have just been adding things like a rack and other little items to ready it for commuting.:)
