I ran across this e-trike in the gallery and I am wondering how they have it set up. It looks like he is driving the front wheels with the crank. You can see the gears and dérailleur through the spokes of the front wheel so it looks like it is a FWD set up. I am very interested in this design and I would appreciate any information about it. Also, I tried to attach the full size image that is in the gallery, but it won't seem to let me. Maybe I don't have enough privilege yet. A larger picture can be found in the AtomicZombie builders gallery.

I had pretty much decided that it had to be some kind of CV joint type set-up, but it was good to get some confirmation and see some better pictures. For an electric trike, this has to be the best setup because you get the economy of a front hub, but the safety of having it in the rear. Any chance of AZ designing something like this? It seems like if you could find a good source for (the appropriate size) donor CV joints it shouldn't be that much more of a reach than the standard design.

This ones a nice looking setup -- though it looks heavy - th eall aluminum construction probably makes it com in around 40lb I would guess -- just looked - 35lbs - nice.
