I am planning to make a custom chopper sized electric vehicle (Im guessing it will be under 200 pounds) and I am using the tips and techniques that are in the Sparky guide. I have some questions though (I have never built anything like this before) and would appreciate help.
1) I am looking to get the speed up to around 40 MPH, so I went looking on the internet for a motor. Since the Sparky motor is 2000 watts, I thought that I would need a higher wattage because this is a larger vehicle, however , I cannot find any motors over 1000 watts anywhere.
These are the ones that I am considering:

http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_500W_to_1000W_Motors_77.html#a147 0_2d060
I am not sure if these will suffice because they are only 1000 watts. If these won't work, where can you get a motor like Sparky's? What type of vehicle could have a motor that I could take out?
2) Can any DC motor like the ones above be connected with a speed controller?
3) What type of wiring do I use to connect it all together? Do I need some type of connectors to put on the ends?
4) How does the battery charger interface with the batteries? I know that on retail electric scooters they have a connector on the scooter and a charger that fits into it.
5) What type of welder would be best for this project? (I cant spend over $500 on it)
6) Should I have some type of cooling fan?
Thanks a lot for your help, I don't have anyone to ask.
