One of the important safety equipment items is a first aid kit.
In addition to bandages and antibacterial sprays/creams, you should have something to treat burns.
Over the years, I have found the best treatment for burns is ice followed by 56,000IU vitamin E oil. I keep break-open ice packs and some vitmin E oil in my first aid kit, and needed them today. Immediately after welding a small part and removing my gloves, I dropped it, and tried to bat it away before it landed on my leg. My pinky and ring finger were curved a little bit and I ended up holding the hot part for a few seconds. Blisters started to form, so I cracked open an ice pack and held it until my hand felt numb. Then I applied the vitamin E oil and gently rubbed it in. Within a half hour, the blisters shrunk and the pain was gone. This wasn't a terrible burn, but I've had severe burns I treated in this manner with similar results.
Before applying the oil, I had big, white blisters that covered thelowest pads on my pinky and ring finger. Now they're just swollen.

Over the years I have found the best thing for burns is not to touch anything hot! :jester: No, really, I feel your pain, right there with yah --- snicker....

I think it was sunday I did the d$mba$$ thing by forgetting the damn part was hot and tried to pick it up -- thankfully it had cooled for a couple minutes prior - but hot enough to remind me how stupid I was - minor blistering.

Another good burn treatment is a paste of baking soda and water. It'll draw the heat out and reduce blisters. Something I learned from the school nurse in high school after welding my hand to a table.
