(this the proper forum or this Q?)
1. Any suggestions re: a good read to gain an understanding about electric vehicles? prefer dead trees, but will go on line if anyone knows a particularly good site. I'm stupid about electric motors, controllers, clutches, generator drives, etc. An AZ project makes a good learn-by-example, but I'd like general principles of operation, purpose, and choosing without more math than algebra--not enough time in the day.
2. Found another use for bike parts!...this plan for a treadle lathe. (http://home.ptd.net/%7Endd1/norris.html)
3. For anyone interested, did you know NASA has a tv station on the net which you can view on the site, or can download a Vista widget (for those like me unfortunate enough to have chosen Vista); you can watch spacewalks, landings, take-offs, dockings, and spectacular views of the earth. They also have a site by which you select your city, and a list is generated which shows all the dates and times for viewing the international space station, shuttle or other vehicles flying overhead. They list the exact time, direction of approach and departure, duration of view, and elevations. Awesome!:)
