View Full Version : Fixture for welding the Rear end

I was really challenged trying to get the rear end welded square and came up with this idea. I locked the forks together using an axle and "pinched" the fork against the frame using a clamp.

To align the frame I raised the rear alignment axle 8" above the bottom of the frame (26" wheel = 13" diameter minus 8") will result in the rear of the seat being ~5" above the ground. This worked very well for ensuring alignment.

That is not perchance a old green Giant Outpost MTb you hacked, is it?

Actually it is a Pacific brand bike a friend (he's a landlord) had to dig out of his bushes. For such a poor brand; many of the parts are identical to a Giant Commotion that I also used for bits.
