Once the allen head bolt is removed, how do the rest of the pieces that still hold the rear triangle on to the pivot tube come off? I'm trying to avoid damaging anything.
Thanks,
Jay

Jay, I assume that you mean the pivot point hardware? If so, you just have to tap it out. Replace the allen-head and tap it some to get it started, remove the bolt, then pry one side out. Then you can tap out the other side with a screwdriver or other tool. Don't use your finger...real nice pinch hazard...

Okay, thanks. I should have some photos posted tomorrow of the rear triangle removed from the bike.

theres 2 different types.
one has small chrome allen bolts, ussualy. Undo the bolts and the swingarm comes off. There will be proper bearing units in the frame pivot.
The other has 1 allen bolt in a big grey tube. These can be difficullt to get out. You really need a 13mm allen key for the other side of it. I use a 13mm headed bolt with a few nuts on it. Then hold that with a spanner, then a 6mm allen key on the other side. You have to tap the big grey tubes out to get the swingarm off. The insides of the swingarm wear on these. As its a plain bearing. I put the swing arm pivot end in the vice to tighten it up. Then its a bit of a struggle to get back on the frame pivot.

If it has bushings, be careful removing them. Some are plastic and easily damaged, and some are made of a hard brittle metal and can break into pieces it you hit them the wrong way. Once you get the pivots that fit into the bushins out, spray some WD 40 to loosen up the bushings.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I used Jim's technique and it came right out. I've got a photo of the rear triangle posted in my project thread.
