I'm a long time Autocad user (started with version 6) so when I lost my current cd for AC I started searching for a free replacement. Of all I tried Solid Edge is the most intuitive (for me YMMV)

2D only

Enjoy!

Have you ever tried VIZ or 3DMAX? It's really fun to throw together a library of bike parks and then visualize a prototype in 3D. I use 3DMax a lot for some other work I do.

I worked with Pro-E and Alphacam for several years until my job was eliminated in 2006 since then I'm back running a CNC but miss the creative part of the cad work. I think you can get a free version of Alpha but it wont add tool paths and things like that. I built some cool stuff for my kids back then!

There is a Max9 and 10 demo available.

Are you looking at mainly CAD abilities, or 3D conceptual?

just CAD. I draw the part... print it out and then glue it to the work. so much easier than marking the work its self... I can't draw a straight line to save my life LOL
