My Wilderness Energy BL-36 electric bike kit was delivered today. Unfortunately, the rim was so badly damaged in shipment, that it required replacement. When I placed the motor in the front fork with the bike upside down, I noticed that it does not spin nearly as easily as the bicycle front wheel does. Does any one know if this is normal for the hub motor?

Thanks

Sounds damaged to me. Although it might only make a single revolution (due to eddy currents) on a spin, it should certainly not be stiff in any way.

Oh, if you spin a hubmotor in reverse with a controller connected, there will be a huge resistance as current shorts across the FETs and diode.
