Well,
As I said in my lattest post, I'm already translating in french the "Overkill" PDF file... and I saw the ridiculous gift of the Dumpster Fairy....;)
And suddenly I remember that in France we haven't a lot of car races like the North American countries... Just few dragsters races... So, to find parts for a huge rear wheel seems to become a huge prob too:mad:
However I've found Formula 1 slick tires for a low price and feel it's kool to built my very first bike... but no rims...

So this is my question : Can you give me some example of tires and rim sizes I can use to respect the spirit of the Overkill ?

Thx in advance 4 your answers

finding the tyre is actually the hardest part of your search, once you have a tyre, then you can look at all the rims available that suit your size tyre ie look at all teh 16" rims, or 24" rims, whatever size a F1 tyre comes in, then simply choose the one that you like best

Hey , Maybe you could get the rim signed by a F1 driver, just to add to its appeal

Also if you can find a rim of the right diameter but not wide enough then just cut it in half and weld a strip in to make the width you need.

Any 15 inch diameter rim will do, and you can often jam a much wider tire on it since you will be using an inner tube with low PSI.

Ok... so I mean that i've found the first piece of the project...
It's a Dunlop Grandtrek AT1 31/10.5/15 and I hope that the 31 number is for 31 cm wide...
For 45 € and 140 kms far from my home...
What do you think ?

Ok, 31/10.5/15 seems to be american sizing... 31 is the diameter, 10.5 the width, and 15 for the rim diameter all in inches. Right ?

Correct, to add, that rim is most likely about 8 inches across the beads. That's also about 5 inches taller than a typical 26 inch 10 speed wheel so pedal effort will be increased proportionately...around 20% more difficult to pedal. spokes from a twenty inch wheel and a 15 inch wide hub would work nicely.

see if they will throw in another three wheels like that one, and build yourself a HPV offroader!

Another thing you can do is get the tire set up on an axle, give it a spin, and hold your angle grinder on the tread to make a slick. It is messy and takes a while, but does work.

Thx Brad,

but do I make a slick on the entire tread or just on each edges ?

and... due to the price this tire maybe already a slick... !!!

That is very much exactly what I meant, bigger wheels, stronger frame, good DF bar on front,... watch out spandex wedgies!

Sorry, Pete, but I've got some prob to translate " spandex wedgies" (extra equipment ???)...
If I understand, yes u can turn this machine into a snowplow (not really necessary in Australia :) )

For those are interrested, I found this machine called "Trailcart" on a German site here :

Spandex - that ultra tight material that super hero costumes and racing cyclists shorts and shirts are made from.
Wedgie - a slang word for a standard bicycle frame (in this instance) also a verb to describe the pulling of someone's underpants fully (and often painfully) up from behind to hang out their shorts. Hence - riding a "wedgie" forces your shorts upwards giving you a "wedgie"
In this example it is alluding to those cyclists who wear spandex riding clothing with state of the art cycles and who look down their noses at every one else who doesn't follow their fashion sense.

Funny thing is all the Bent riders out there that are the same way!! I've seen some of the guys from my local area that dress to the hilt in wedgie stuff, only to pull out a $6000 Bent of some sort to ride in a big group ride with a ton of wedgies...:rolleyes4: One day I'll roll up in my deck shorts, on a $200 homebuilt and sail right along with the rest of them! Oh, yes...I might even have the engine on there just for fun!!:scooter:

I've got finally the very first part of my overkill project ! the wheel !!!
First prob solved !!! lol

But what a heavy wheel !! like a rock ! But it's roll perfecly...
So, like a rolling stone, I will "Paint It Black"...

But my next stage will be to remove the center... Let's go grinder, we have a some job to do !!! (about 4mm of steel and some low cost disks...hmmm...)

Thx 4 the lot of infos about sportwear !!! lol ------> I am learning english with pleasure here !!! hahaha !
