Brad/Anyone,

Several of the plans say that this is what's preferred to use for the handlebars...

I'm trying to get clarification... would you call these Granny Handlebars?

Yes, "North Road" is the name for the classic touring bar style, a.k.a. "granny bars" because it's common on old casual/comfort bikes, especially ladies bikes. A lot of companies make them. I got mine in aluminum alloy from a local place for under $20.

A variation of the 'cruiser' style?

I find mine at the landfill and other sources. Sometimes I take just the stem off with bars and all along with the 3-speed wheel and leave the rest. The curve in the bars and how the grips lie in your hand are different from one bar to the next. After a while you can spot the good ones. Those ones in the picture look like good ones, if they are then you have a good source for new ones.
