Thanx a TON to LocoLarry for sending me pics of his welding jig!
Loco was too modest to post this, so (with permission) I'm taking the initiative!

This ingenious, simple little jig makes it a snap to not only get
the centerpoint steering angle correct, it also enables one to
achieve uniformity of the 2 parts! Just brilliant!

On mine, the edge of the board represents the centerline of the tire.
This thing helped me out TREMENDOUSLY! :D

Beautiful work. I love jigs. As you say it makes things so much easier to get right more than once for those of us who aren't exceptionally coordinated when holding a welding wand.

Do you weld the steering head to the strut with it attached to the jig?
Pardon the dumbness of the question, I know that what I'm looking at is the answer I seek but I don't even know enough at this stage to ask the right questions.
I want to build a trike (haven't decided which, probably get both on a CD) and I don't want it to be crooked.

And yes. That's the whole point of the jig! :)

Well, at least TACK it solidly, anyway.
Then, you can remove it from the jig & weld it up solid!

Thanks Sir Joey. So the jig is laid down and the strut that connects it to the frame uses one of those angles drawn on the jig and is then tacked to the steering head. The strut and steering head would then be welded to the frame.
Is that the correct idea? Would another jig be employed to do the strut to frame operation?
I'll get this eventually!

This is just an easy method of getting the correct angle for
center-point steering, & for getting both kingpins identical.

Once you get the plans, you'll understand the rest. If not, we're here to help! :)

I just wanted to add that this jig works great, I made it today and welded up my kingpins
