Hello all;

I found hubs and disk brakes (just like in the plans).

But what about the rear wheel? does it have to be a 20mm?

do they use a different measurement for back wheels?

What sizes fit disk brakes?

Best regards; PaulPb

The rear wheel is just a typical 26 inch rear wheel of decent quality. rear brakes are purely optional, and you could even use caliper brakes if you wanted a rear brake.

OK great!

Since we're on the subject I found some cheap rims online - I couldn't find Black rims for cheap though....(If there are cheap rims in black let me know)

And what kind of spokes do you use? - so far what I've seen looks expensive in boxes of 100.

More questions to come in the future..........

I bought JetSet black powdercoated double wall rims through Bitex. Here's how they quoted them:

1.CH-300A:20"*1.75-2.125*36H. color powder coated. US$13/pc.
2.CH-300A:26"*1.75-2.125*36H, color powder coated US$14/pc.

I selected these rims specifically for trike use and to be mounted with Big Apple tires, after numerous conversations with reps at Bitex, JetSet, and Schwalbe Tires.

Here are two closeups:

Here are the Bitex hubs:

And the 20" wheel & tire all built up. Notice the reflective whitewall on the tire. This really lights the tire up at night when headlights shine on them. Nice safety feature:

As for the spokes, rather than fretting over spoke length and having to buy more than needed (two boxes of 50), I had my LBS custom cut, thread and lace the spokes onto the rims for me, at a cost of $0.75 per spoke, and $30.00 each wheel for lacing and truing. The result: Perfectly true wheels, with top quality stainless steel 14 gauge spokes laced in a sturdy 3-cross pattern on the front two wheels, and 2-cross pattern on the rear wheel (2-cross due to the diameter of the hub motor).
