I needed to make some rubber standoffs to mount the chrome mudguards on swmbo's trike.
1st found a length of high density rectangular rubber door trim from a rubber shop.
Cut to length and drilled.

Then a nut and bolt with two thick steel washers of the diameter I wanted the standoffs.

Squeeze up the rubber very tight

Place in a drill (hand drill in a vice will work fine)

use the angle grinder to wear the rubber away but dont take off any metal from the washers.

the compressed rubber now looks very neat.

once uncompressed it has a concave contour.
In use I think it looks better when its not fully compressed so as the contour remains.
Pictures in use to follow when mudguards are finished.
