I like re-using the old cable stops but now I dont have O/A I cant get them off.
Neither of my propane burners can get the metal hot enough to remove or braize them back on.
No Problem, cut the ones off a suitable rubbish doner leaving enough metal around them to weld them to the new tube.
Simple, quick, neat, once I sand the excess weld off.

I wish I would have looked here before I did the ugly mig meltdown on my cable stops, there is always someone on A-Z that has built the better mouse trap. Nice idea, I was looking for something better, I was thinking I needed a gas torch to do this but your method looks quite do-able with my current setup.

Yep, would much prefer that route but you still need a decent heat source to braze them on with.

I have managed to put them on using high silver content silver solder and a very ordinary propane torch. Put a piece of brick behind and under to reflect heat back. Plenty of flux. Cut a 1/2" length of SS and lay it along the joint. More flux. Heat until it flows. Brazing needs much more heat.
I get my braze ons from Greenspeed.

I could melt new ones just as fast as the used ones! :)
