This is my Warrior build that I almost completed about a week ago. The rear whitewall tire will be replaced with an all black tire to match the front tires. It still needs paint when the weather warms up again. I haven't looked around too much for paint yet but I'm thinking of maybe a burnt orange color if I can find it. My knees aren't as good as they used to be so I normally add a motor to my builds. This one has a GEBE 35cc Robin/Subaru 4 stroke motor. I had it on the road a few times and it runs and rides fantastic. I just added the speedometer so I don't know the top speed yet but I suppose it'll do between 25 and 30 MPH. Can't wait to get it painted and get in some serious riding time.

I hope the humidity there isn't anything like it is here, because not painting it until Spring would mean it was a pile of rust here.

It'll be kept in my heated workshop over the winter so I shouldn't have to worry about rust. I'm still hopin for some warm weather so I can get it painted and then let the paint cure good over the winter.

Lookin great Butch!
Did you get that GEBE set up from http://www.bikeengines.com/ ? I have the same setup on one of my mountain bikes with over 2700 mi on the same belt. That Robin35cc is a little work horse. I have over 6400 mi on one of them and its still running strong.

What area of Minn. you from?

Thanks Graucho. I did get the GEBE setup from bikeengines.com. I have several different motor/gearbox setups on bikes and the GEBE and EZM belt drive kits have been my favorites.

I live in Princeton, MN. About 50 mi. north of the Twin Cities. How about yourself?

Nice build, Butch.

How bad is the noise and vibration from having the motor next to your head..??? :scooter:

Here, bare metal will have a dusting of rust showing in just ONE DAY!!!

In the month or so that I've been tinkering on mine,
it's become rustier than anything I've ever fooled with!

Feel like I need a tetanus shot just from handling it! :furious:

Julia at Golden Eagle says to move the engine back away from your head ... something about the going deaf factor. :-)

great build!

I've been thinking about attaching a piece of curved pipe to the muffler to divert the exhaust to the rear of the trike. This is one of the quieter motors though and the noise isn't bad at all.

Just watch out for weak spokes!!! I still love my GEBE! Nice build!

Should prime it anyway, get the primer on so it won't rust.

Go crazy and powder coat it.

Nice build

How do you get away with motor power on the road??

Motor assisted bicycles have been around for many years. I've been riding them for about six years and have never been stopped by the law. I don't know if it makes any difference but I'm usually pedaling along with the motor. It's usually the few that ride them irresponsibly that spoil it for the rest.

I finally got my Warrior painted. I decided to set up a temporary spray booth made from some large pieces of cardboard in my heated workshop so I could get the painting finished instead of waiting until next summer. I had a couple of rattle cans of Krylon pumpkin orange so that's what I used. It was a fun job to build and I'm sure it will be equally fun to ride when the weather warms up again.

Nice job, a fine looking piece of work. Looking forward to your ride report and how well the engine components work. Would love to see close-ups of the engine mount and throttle hook ups. Thinking of doing the same to mine.

Beautiful bit of work - not into the engine side of things but cannot fault what you have built - looks like the real deal & is a great rolling advert for AZ!

Hey Butch the orange looks great! The whole set up is a winner. I guess I am a fan of the GEBE set up. Love the Robin Subaru 35. Great job.

Your trike looks very nice, and is just the colour that I am hopefully doing mine.

Just wanted to ask about the motor what cc is it and how does the law look on them ? I have not checked yet but I am guessing they would be illegal to use over here :(

The motor is a Robin/Subaru 35cc 4 stroke. Great little motor.
I live in a small town and have never been hassled by the law. I figure as long as I obey the rules of the road I shouldn't have to worry about it.
If anybody is thinking of putting the same GEBE drive system on their Warrior keep in mind that the rear fork has to be widened an extra inch to get the clearance needed for the drive ring.

I built the fork according to plans ... Used a heavy duty rear wheel I purchase from GEBE with the ring attached ... It gives about 1/4" clearance between the ring and the fork. Enough room to put on and remove the belt. (just fine as long as you don't have a bent rim) Although next time, I'd make the fork about an inch wider at the front end ... just for my own feelings ...

After eyeballing mine it may be too narrow. It's OK. It's not a plan bike anyway, so there is some learning going on for this build...

I made my fork an inch wider at the front than what the plan calls for and I have 3/16" clearance at the widest point between ring and fork. I am using a Weinmann S7X wheel with 12 gauge spokes. It must be the difference in the rims.
