Howdy folks;
Look what I scored off Craigslist today for 40$ Needs some work but has two 48v Ni-Mh packs, rear disk brakes, & a bunch of extra parts.

Wow. That's not a score, it's a steal. Looks like a motorcycle fork up front.

Very cool! I think I might have seen that trike somewhere at one time. It seems to have DeltaWolf like rear axles?

Yea Kid, I suppose it was a steal but at least I didn’t steal it from the guy that built it. :)The guy I bought it from got it trailer & all at an estate sale & just wanted the trailer. When he kept telling me over the phone that was a disk brake on the front I knew he was clueless. The triple tree on the front is a custom job & is gonna need some stops to keep it from sliding around.
JimFPU, that’s a friends ultralight that he’s recovering the wings on. Lives on a private airstrip. I live in the city but do most building out there.
Brad, the E frame, steering-head tube connection, bottom bracket, & some other stuff is just like a Delta Wolf. One big problem is he mounted the batteries under each side of the seat & he had to put em’ right through the diagonal truss tube. This has lessoned the integrity of the entire rear frame assy. I will probably install the rear frame diagonal as per your plans & put the batteries on the back side of the E frame.
Too bad the dude who put all the time into this project never got to have an electric grin. At least it didn’t end up in a pile of scrap iron which is where it was headed.

Spent the day trying to figure out if there’s anything on the trike frame that’s salvageable. The tubing wall is too thin, bad welds, triple tree is toast, & the main boom is bent. I keep telling my buddy that we need to just strip all the parts off of it & build a new frame from the ground up. I’ve got all the material for it & a couple of DW E frames already built. He thinks we can salvage the main boom off of it. We whipped out the Sawzall & chopped it off but I still think we need to start from scratch. Any suggestions on this one?

It looks like exercise equipment tubing. If so.... way too thin!

Thanks for the info Brad. Put a mic on it today & looks like it was about 20 gage stuff. I originally thought from all the similarities the original builder bought some Delta Wolf plans but I see now that probably wasn’t the case. The entire frame ended up in the trash. Still might be able to use the BD 36 on an electric Delta Wolf. Salvaged all the parts I could off it & finished up a couple of DW rear frames today. This was another lesson about really watching out when getting into other peoples unfinished builds. Uncompleted home built aircraft kits are really famous for this. It might seem like a “Score!“ but it’s usually better to just start from scratch than to have to go through & correct a mass of someone elses mistakes. :wings:
