ok first off i just got my plans today bought kyoto deltawolf and streetfighter plans. good plans well laid out. I read all 3 plans thoroughly took me 11 hrs. Wow my eyes hurt lol.
Ok so for my first build i decide on the deltawolf.
Reread it again to go through and make a parts list run down some supplies and get a rough idea on pricing.
So im looking through one of my online parts supply places and i run across some very interesting looking rims built for garden carts.
Now you might think garden cart rims wont be any good most are junk but then i spot these 26" rims with 3.5 inch nom hub width 22 spoke 1/4" dia.
spokes with available 1/2", 5/8",3/4 axles change to either size at checkout. http://www.greenhouses-etc.net/garden_carts/cart_parts.htm
Looking at the hub im thinking wow that looks plenty beefy.
Wondering now how well its constructed can i rip the hub apart and weld it to the axle shaft.
So anyways i'm staring at this wheel for like 5 mins when I look up one wheel and say omg.
This wheel has 26" rims with 5" nom hub width 32 spoke not sure of spoke dia. but looks like same 1/4 dia. spokes, also availabe in 1/2",5/8"and 3/4"
axle shafts.
price is 137 bucks for 2 of the 3.5 inch hubs tires and all.
price is 133 bucks for 2 of the 5 inch hubs tires tubes and all.
Looking again dont think those spokes are as big as other ones.
So we get to my question's.
first off im 6ft7 350 to 375 pounds so I have already decided to up my square tube wall to 14 guage .078 thickness.
oh and my shoulder width is 25 inches so im going to be 30" wide at the rear.
Question 1 will either of these wheels work for this application.
If so should I go for the 32 spoke 5 inch hub to give this thing some real meat. Or will the 3.5 inch hub suffice. i dont like the idea of only 22 spokes.
Also being a big man should i stick with the 5/8" axle or up it to the 3/4"
axle.
And i dont know being so big should i maybe add some extra support braces into my design so i dont tweak the frame my first shot down the street.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated can't wait to start ordering parts
and getting a rolling chasis going.
Thanks a bunch, Nelson
