I noticed that in the instructions for the drops on the rear forks, it says to drill a 3/4" hole and slot it out for the axles. On the two scrap bikes that I have, the axle size is less than 1/2" , so what do I drill it out as the exact size of that bike or just 3/4. It may not even be the exact wheel that I end up using, but want to finish the drop pieces.
Boy my welding sucks!

Sounds like you have skewer type axles? You could just find a drill size that is close to the dropouts on the bike you took them from.

Brad, could that be a misprint in the plan? Most axles are either 3/8" or 10mm. 3/4" is about 19mm.

Actually both scraps bikes that I have are 3/8"

I see where you mean now. The drawing shows the length of the slot as 3/4 inch, but I say to start by drilling a 3/4 inch hole. Yes, you are correct, I will change that line to read... "start by drilling a 1/2 inch hole to compete the 3/4 inch long slot".

Thanks for pointing it out.

Brad,
Should it be 1/2" or 3/8"? I shouldn't drill a 1/2" hole, if it is 3/8/" axle should I?

I'd drill it to 3/8" and ream it, or go to a slightly larger bit, 13/32" or 7/16".

The slot should be slightly larger than your axle, that's all.
