Tubing thickness questions...

I am 200+ lbs, by wife is 199 lbs, and we want to haul groceries and electrify it...can you say it needs to be STRONG!

OK.. the Main 68" tubes are the ones I am wondering about...14ga for sure...

Question... what about going UP a size on those tubes Only, or even rectangles with more in the vertical dimension?

Next Question... Larger but thinner?

Last question...would gussets be overkill for those of us who are just re-learning how to weld?

You could also keep the 16 ga. and move to a 2 inch square tube like I am doing on the LodeRunner.

In looking at tubing and weights

1.5 sq .083 thick 6.39 lbs per 4'

1" x 2" rectangle .065 thick is 5.07 lbs per 4'

Would this be a better option ?

I would think that the 1.5" or even 2" as suggested would be a better option. The 1 X 2 would not have much lateral stability and would flex a lot. The difference in weight is really small and I do not think that you will be racing the cruiser. You could always shave weight in other places if necessary.
