hi all i have made the boom for the delta trike but found that the steel wall was too thin so insted of using 1.5mm wall thickness i had to go to 2.5mm wall thickness . i know that it will be a bit heavyer than i would have liked but at list i can give it a hard time down at the bmx track and know it wont brake. hey i am a big kid too.:D more soon. have a look at the build so far at http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbbbcpBKESc

hi all i have been working on the steering on the delta trike and have worked out if i drill a hole under the seat and cut a front wheel hub in two and also cut a goose nick down to about 1 inch and put it all together to make the under seat steering for the trike. i have to make the handlebars from scratch. i will post a video as soon as i can.

I find that if I put any of my bikes in low gear and peddle slowly, they will go slow enough to fall over, except on my DW of course.

i could cut the old bmx bars up and some mountain bike bars up and hey presto i got my under seat handle bars:eek: now all i have to do is tack it all together and see if it will work. video soon.

Just watched your 2 videos.
Looks like your build is coming along nicely.
Love the crazy look in your eyes when you mention the book.
I got the same look when I came across this website.
Except I had the crazy evil laugh" according to the wife".
Keep it up.

I am loving my trike, put close to 12 miles on mine today.
My fricking legs are like sore rubber.
I think I am going to be losing some weight if I keep riding this much everyday.
Cause rides seem to get longer Every time I go out.
Hoping to eventually hit about 30 miles a day before this winter.
Need a bigger water bottle holder or more than one.
May have to figure out a rear rack soon.
So I can carry my tool kit, spare tubes, more water and stuff.
Hmm guess I got a new question for the others here.
Well enjoy the paint fumes, hope to see a new video soon.

I'm not sure I can pick a color, since I like so many (grey, black, yellow, white, blue, red). I do like the way you used a bicycle hub to make your underseat steering. Very creative use of that.

hi all i have fitted a front mudguard and am looking to build some rear mudguards but i am not shore how i am going to mount them. i was hopping to make them one peace but it may have to be made in two or three peaces and welded the three parts together on the trike, or have the parts bolt together so it can be adjusted to fit the way i want it to.
any body have any other ideas on how to mount them.

Are you going to pursue legal action against the bozo that hit you??? Hope so, for some it will be the only thing that leaves a residual message to be more aware next time -- also it might put a bit o cash in your pocket for your trouble. I understand the concept of turning the other cheek and all but not when someone is trying to smack it with a vehicle!!!

Sorry to hear about your wreck, hope you are ok.
I agree Sue the bozo.
At least make him pay for your trouble.
Glad to hear your ok though.
Some people just don't see us cause were so low to ground I guess.
I got a big orange flag on my bike now.
And mirror and a horn too.
And blinking led lights on front and back.

Gee Chops thats not so good.
Glad to hear that you are OK. Heal quickly. Hope the trike rebuilds without too much trouble. Bad enough getting hurt without losing a good trike.
I agree with hitting his insurance for your costs, suffering and for the trike repairs. Sue if you must.
We are members of Bicycle Victoria and they have insurance cover. Paid out quite a bit for my wifes accident last year including lost income. Just a thought if you're a member of that or the Qld organisation.
gbbwolf: Drivers don't see us because they don't want to see us. They see the white line on the road or a broken bottle or other obstacle just fine. I always ride well out in the road and in their face so to speak. I think they are less likely to notice you if you hug the kerb. Also gives me an escape if it goes to grubs.
Over here I wish they'd bring in the European rule that in any accident with a cyclist the driver is automatically at fault and liable (with certain defined exceptions). I think we'd see a change in attitude then.

Gotta respectfully disagree with both John and Nelson. Drivers run into the back end of trucks, into buildings and do all sorts of stupid moves while behind the wheel of the car due to lack of attention. Here in Obamaland we are so preoccupied with cell phones, muzak, eating, putting on make up, you name it that it is a wonder that ONLY around 58,000 people die yearly here in this country.
John -- at least here in the Pacific Northwest, a biker's life ain't worth much. It is a common story here that a driver kills a bicyclist and gets off pretty much scott free. The onus of blame almost always sits on the shoulders of the cyclist. A damn shame.
Sorry for the rant.

Get well soon. Take some good photos of the damage both to share but more importantly to document for insurance.:helmet:
OddMan is right here in the Northwest it seems like every week we hear about another cyclist hit by a vehicle.:dunce2:

When I started riding a motorcycle, I did a lot of research on car-motorcycle accidents. It is amazing how many of them occur because the car drivers either don't see them, or misjudge their speed. People just aren't looking for us, and therefore don't see us, even if they are looking right at us sometimes. That and the aforementioned inattentive drivers on cell phones is the reason I will not ride my bicycle on the street. I always take my lane at turns and intersections, because I know from experience some idiot in a car will try to squeeze by me if they can. I would not dream of riding on the edge of the lane so they could whiz past me and maybe clip me in the process.
On a motorcycle, the best advice I have ever gotten is to ride like you are invisible. I think the same advice is probably good for bicyclers too. Flags and light colors (like white) help, but only to a degree.

I ride pretty much in the lane when cars are parked, otherwise, there's a white line about 8' out from the curb on most of the streets. When I block traffic, I get honked all the time. I just wave as if they're saying hello with the horns. Pisses a lot of 'em off, but TS.

hi all thank for all who replied i have had a visit from a farther and son this arvo he found out what his son did to my delta trike and made him come around and apologize to me in person. as most of the people know i ride custom bikes and trikes it was not hard to find me most of the people at the local shops know where i live or what street i live in, boy i was shocked but dam prod of what the farther did, the son was sh#$%ing him self the whole time he was here and offed to pay for the repairs. i didn't think people did that now a days but it is good to see and i think he learned his lesson. on a more cheerful note i have a photo of my wolf not painted yet but let me know what you all think

Good to hear everything is working out.
Well here in indiana it is almost never the bicyclist who is found at fault.
But me and wife will now ride the back roads to bike path.
Path is 5 miles now with a few good hills to climb.
And with the new ymca coming this year, they asked for the bike path to be joined to the ymca project or they won't build it.
Which from the path to the ymca following the river will add another 4 miles, then next year bike path will follow the river to markle indiana some 9 miles more.
Also new bicycle lane is expected to run up highway 1 almost 20 miles to join in with ft wayne indiana's extensive bike path system.
Along with ft wayne adding bicycle lanes on most major roadways.
More people bicycling now and obama's plan is adding some money for these projects.
So soon will have plenty of area to ride my trike.
Wifes tadpole got put on hold a few more days.
Cleaning that trailer down the street did prove to be a lot of work 36 bags of trash and still not clean.

Wow - a responsible parent determined to teach his spawn a real life lesson. That gives me a bit more hope for the human race. The Wolf is looking good!
Glad to know that you're OK. Think I'll mount two air horns on my delta this summer. I agree that all of the driver distractions these days put everyone at risk, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike. I hate being in a vehicle with someone yapping or texting on a cell phone.
I drive like I walk - expect that nobody is paying attention because most usually aren't. Drive defensively at all times and don't expect anyone to care about your rights and safety. It's a me, me, me world out there, unfortunately.

Its been my experience that at least 90% or more of the population have absolutely no awareness of their surroundings.
They amble along as if they are completely alone in the world with nary a thought as to what anyone else requires.
If they behave this way when walking what are they like behind a wheel?
Mobile phones, sat-nav, texting etc all take a chunk out of that tiny bit of attention they should be paying to their surroundings.
"I'm going this way irrespective of the fact it encroaches on your needs, keep out of my way." Seems to be the current attitude of most of them.
Its rather amusing to creep up behind and give a quick blast of the horn to see how high they jump.

check your local auto parts store, we now have an air horn that comes wit a pump. you just push down the plunger and it screams. about 109db.
