Freehub and Disc brake Adapters

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to making these out of aluminum?

Well one advantage lighter weight.
One disadvantage welding to axle.
Unless you plan on set screws or keyway or both.

I hadn't planned on welding them, as Brad's plans call for using a set screw with a hole drilled through the axle.

The adapter can be made of aluminum without a problem. Try to have the axle hole machined perfectly, though.

The freehub may be more difficult to remove if for some reason you ever need to change it.

Thanks Brad. I think I'll have them Quoted both ways, to see what the cost difference is. I am planning a press fit either way, with a set screw.
