While listening to the Chicago Cubs game Sunday, the "play-by-play" announcer (on the radio) told the listeners that for the first time in professional baseball history, a minor league game was held in Iowa with no fans in the stadium. Due to the evacuation orders given to the residents, compliments of the weather you're talking about, no fans were allowed into the ball park.

I'm not surprised... my wife and I had the misfortune of having to drive thru IA this weekend (trying to get to our farm in northwestern MO)... we were rebuffed about halfway across, and rather than take their detour that would take us most of the way to South Dakota to avoid the water, we chose to drive back into IL. Thanks to the Idiots Out Walking Around, just getting THROUGH Davenport took us over an hour. Detour this, missing road numbers that, roads changing names as you go along them... GRR!
Once we got into IL, we then went way south and directly into MO via the Quincy, IL bridge. We took 34 all the way across MO, then went north. All in all, a trip that should have taken 8-10 hours took us almost a DAY... 20 hours later, we were home at the farm. I'm surprised I stayed awake long enough to inflate the mattress, but it was either that or sleep on a bare floor, and my body couldn't take it anymore, I HAD to have SOMETHING nice!
So, for the time being, everyone, AVOID IOWA. If you live there, MOVE AWAY. You'll thank me later!
