Wanna race?
Brad
Looks great. Now we just need to see a few videos of you riding it. I wonder how much travel there is on the rear suspension. Is clearance a problem going over bumps or up a steep transistion between a road and driveway? Keep up the good work!!

Riding video will be available whenever we get sunshine around here again. Honestly, who else is tired of the never ending rain, overcast skies and storms? Back to wearing socks and sweaters. Sheesh, enough already.

Videos and ride photo are coming as soon as the rain stops. It's been days since we had a decent sunny afternoon for using the cameras.
Maybe I will get creative and strap a cam to the Marauder to show the suspension action.
Brad
Well here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we have had a ton of rain this spring also. Today was one of the only days without rain but the temps are not the warmest.....68 degrees. Hard to believe that its the 4th of July in a few weeks and we really haven't had any warm weather.

Yes, same boat here. Just came back from a half hour ride on the electric scooter, and I am frozen! Might as well be fall again.

I envy you with that wet & cool weather! We're in a severe drought here, not to mention the fact that we've already had several days of triple-digit heat, & it's not even officially Summer, yet!
It's already so stinkin' hot here, that I can't do anything at all outside, past abut 10 a.m. If I wanna get anything done, I have to start about 7 a.m., & still only get in about 2 or 3 hours before I have to knock off for the rest of the day, due to excessive heat!
Heck, I can't even ride anymore, unless I wanna go out at night! I'm ready to move to Canada!

Would you like to trade places? (no, seriously).
I can handle blasting heat in the garage, but can't deal with any amount of cold.

...I can handle blasting heat in the garage, but can't deal with any amount of cold.
That's surprising, coming from a Canadian! I always thought you guys were nearly as impervious to the cold as Eskimos!
I was born in Detroit, & raised in northern Indiana. Having lived there most of my life, I'm pretty much a northern boy myself (states-wise), & even though advancing years have made me less tolerant of temperature extremes at BOTH ends of the spectrum, I still seem to be able to deal with the cold a little easier than the heat. I've lived here in SC for 5 1/2 years, but instead of becoming acclimated to the climate here, it becomes more intolerable every year.
Still, I certainly don't miss the snow, & if I never see another flake again, it'll be too soon, but living somewhere with an AVERAGE temp of about 20 degrees cooler than this, would be ideal for me. (I guess THAT would place me right back up there at the top of the states again, eh?)

Yes, I must be a rebel Canuck considering....
I have no interest in hockey or any other sport and have never in my life watched a sports game on TV of any kind.
I prefer wine over beer.
I almost never leave the house when it is below zero (seriously!).

I'm with Sir Joey on the rain. We have not had significant rain since September plus the triple digit heat. It will only get to 95 (35 for Brad) today but will be back over 100 tomorrow. We keep getting teased with morning clouds which just raises the humidity.
We spent a year in the Seattle area and it was really nice to wear a sweat shirt while watching fireworks then needing a blanket at night. Our air conditioner has been needed for over six weeks now.

Brad, I'm with you, I HATE the cold, always have.
Its one of the reasons I moved to Oz.
Did play ice hockey for a bit though in my early days.
Would you believe its played up here in the tropics? We have an ice rink.

The temp here in Kansas has been great 70's and 80's but the rain will not stop too.
Has the Marauder Reloaded been weighed against the Original Marauder)?

A real man will build it then wife will show him what he did wrong.
That is why I ask my wife for her opinion and idea's first.
24 years of marriage will teach you that lesson.
Actually she is a great help.
She has an eye for details.
And 2 good eye's for helping me get things straight.
She was a big help on lining up my head tube and steering tube on the Wolf.
Too bad she has to work LMAO.
Well off to bed

Your own of those kinda guys!!! I will forgive for that one seeing as you don't watch hockey -- can't stand it myself and I come from the infamous hockey town of Parry Sound -- Home of Bobby Who?
Me too -- hate the cold! Kinda wishing climate change would hurry up and make this area a little hotter all the time. One month of winter sounds good to me! When US has our kind of health care system - l am immigrating to Arizona.

I'll have to wait until I get home to see that Marauder shot; for some reason, the hosting site is blocked here at work. I think I saw a pic of it in another thread, but don't remember the exact lines.
As for weather, I'm with Mark/Choppersrule- If there is one thing I absolutely cannot bear, it's heat. I sweat like a horse when the temps get above 85*, and the closer it gets to the century mark, the more I want to just lay down and die. I try to escape by swimming a lot; lakes, streams, whatever, so long as it's NATURAL water. I don't care for pools, although I'll take one in a pinch. Heat I hate: When it's heavy and hot like a wet blanket from a halfway-finished run through the dryer; when the air is easier to DRINK than BREATHE; or when the air feels like sucking on a hairdryer on HI... if it's hot, I can't take it. And nuts to those fools from the US SW who say, "It's a DRY heat..." I've been there, you're fooling yourself - it's just MORE BLOODY-ARSE HOT.
Now cold, that's MY kind of territory! Born in MN, raised near the Windy City, I can take the subzero as well as a polar bear. I subscribe to the adage my brother, a fellow cold-lover, has said: "When it's cold, you can always put more clothes on, but when it's hot, there's only so much you can take off until you're naked and YOU'RE STILL HOT."
I love the sound of snow squeaking under my skis as I traverse a field; I love the shiver of a dusting of snow down my back when I'm out on my snowboard; I love the silence of a fir forest laden with a heavy white coat. I like the bite of a cold wind, where you can almost see the blue, razor-edged ice in it, where the air tastes crisp like the sharpest champagne.
My wife, on the other hand, born and raised in Chicago, simply cannot take the cold. Anything below 50* and she's looking for a sweatshirt; 40* and she's shivering uncontrollably. If she has to go between house and car, she'll sooner run than walk. She admits that the high 90s is a little too hot, but prefers it any day over any sort of cold. Talk about an odd couple!

Wow! We finally get to see the new Marauder, after waiting so long, and all you guys can talk about is the weather? That sure looks good Brad! I've been hanging on to a suspension rear unit for a while, and the original Marauder is my favorite plan in the BBB. Talk about temptation!
I bet it will even be cool here in sunny Mississippi, where the temp is currently 93! Way to go again Brad!

If the idler wheel is still as low to the ground as the original picture makes it appear, I want to see it go over a decent bump :D

Yes, I will have an entire weekend with the Marauder at camp. There are some crazy hills I want to blast down. I also plan to bring the LodeRunner so I can climb the hills!
Yes, that idler pulley is not the correct one - I use a smaller one, but only had that one handy for the photos. I did use the Marauder in town several times with the large pulley, and did not bottom out.

I wish I could ride one, but I'm relinquished to just enjoy the video. Two wheels and too low are not condusive to my arthritiic conditions. Neither is the cold weather, which I prefer. I have a similar adage as your brother, n9, but I say if it's too hot, you can only take so much off before you get arrested.
Any updates on videos of it in action???

Camp was rained out! So as of yet, I still have to find a nice day to video the Marauder, LodeRunner, Vigilante, and now the TradeWinds!
Weather has never been so erratic around here, but I guess that's why I am getting so many builds done.
Maybe this weekend will be good for videos.

So Brad, what size pulley did you end up with? I'm also having trouble sourcing these pulleys... no exercise equipment stores around here. Any thoughts?

if you are really desperate then try a motor parts store.
Some cars (mazda) have idler pulleys with a ball race bearing that would work.
Trouble is they are often a tad expensive.
If you can find the model vehicle that uses the size you want then try the Junk yards for a second hand one maybe?

Go here...
http://www.mcmaster.com/
and type "idler pulley" in the search field.
I have a 4 inch diameter pulley on there now that was once a wheelchair front caster. I cut off the rubber!

Wheelchair casters work great Huh brad.
Also you might want to try a lawnmower repair shop.
One that works on riding tractors.
There are several different models that use a pulley with a bearing there.
Sourced them for my build then wife got laid off so I went with what I had on hand.
They were fairly cheap 3 inch being like 10 bucks and a 6 inch being like 13.
Just go in and tell them you need a pulley with a bearing and I told them what is was for they were a great help.
That being said I also have another group of people I have to show my wolf to.
All four of their mechanics were very interested LOL.
