Where the heck do I get the extra long brake and deraillur cables from.

I know don't tell me LBS.

Actually i wonder if the walmart universal cables are longer.
Guess I will go look.

i bought a cable set from walley world.

but since i reused the grip shifters from my mtn bike, i didnt use the new inner cables. my old ones were JUST long enough to make it (i would have used new ones, but couldnt figure how to get the cable out of the grip shifter). one brake cable and both shifter cables from the package are all extra- long, and work great. one brake cable is for the front, and WAY too short. so i guess i'll buy another cable pack, and have 3 extras. spare parts for the next build!

my LBS stocks tandem cables, I just cut them down to fit.
He also stocks the brass ferrules for the ends as well.

Check any of the online bike shops as well. Many have standard cables that are 2-3 meters long. They also stock tandem cables that are much longer. I buy mine from my LWB, they cost 2 or 3 bucks each, and he gives me a bunch of ferrules.

Well walmart cables were a bust.
Cheap chinese made junk and still too short.

Wife went to pick up her check, so I tagged along.
Bike shop was 2 blocks away from her work.

They had 118 inch cables for my brakes price for them wasn't too bad.
Same for deraillur cables.

The brake cable housing and the ferrules were decent price also.

The SIS cable housing for the shifters, which of course I had to get the best he had, was 1.00 a foot.

Funny thing is the cheap stuff he had was same price.
And the Longer tandem cables I got were also same price as regular length cables, go figure.

Altogether I spent 40 bucks for cables housing ends and ferrules.

Will have extra brake cable housing and shifter housing for next project.

Did see some excellent thumb shifters push button click style.
But at 30 bucks a piece I will have to stick with my old thumb shifters, for awhile.

Like the old saying goes.
You get what you pay for.
Either buy cheap junk that last's maybe 1 summer.
Or spend little more and get what ya wanted in the first place,
Because you know you will end up spending less money doing it right the first time.
Cause you will pay for the cheap junk, and then pay for what you should have bought in the first place.

Yeah I had planned on using the dremel tool to cut it.
Did not think about putting it in the vise though.
Although that is the way I cut small parts for the wolf.

Mark the line and use the side of the vise like a blade guide.
Very hard to cut into the vise and it keeps my line straight.

Seeing how I cut evrything with a sawsall made it easier for me.

I was using a tile nipper to cut mine, which is what my LBS owner uses. Then I found a bike tool kit on sale locally, at a larger store. It includes the cutter for cables and housings, and works quite well.
