I know with the Rustoleum (Tremclad in Canada) it can take several weeks before its fully hard.

Krylon is ususlly enamel, as is Rustoleum. With enamel, there is a window for recoating, in normal weather conditions, that window is 2 hours. If you don't recoat in that window, it takes 3-7 days for it to cure to the point that you can recoat. If you miss the window and recoat before that time, the paint usually peels. The second coat acts almost like a stripper. If you want to apply a clear coat, and you miss the window, wait at least 3 full days before you apply it, and waiting 7 days is the best choice. Then it takes a week to cure, as it normally would, and gets fully hardened after a month.
For future projects, you may want to consider using lacquer. Depending on the brand, it may or may not be more expensive. However, there is no window for recoating, and it cures to the point that you could compound it in 24 hours. It still takes a week to cure, and a month to fully harden, but if touch-ups are necessary, they can be done anytime. You don't have to wait a few days just to fix a mistake or cover a spot you missed. Both types of paint shouldn't be waxed until a month has passed.

Nelson...Painting is another whole new subset of skills you're about to learn. All paint requires time to cure (outgassing), so even if it appears dry, it's still vulnerable to scratching easily for the first few weeks.
Be carefull when reassembling and riding.
For quick touchups on my 'rattle can' paint jobs, I spray a little into the cap, let it thicken, and then dab it on the scratch with a Q-Tip or small artists brush. That way, I'm using the same batch of paint and no masking is needed.
Don't forget the pictures of the final product...!!

Phew I got second touch up coat for spots I missed within the second hour as can said to wait an hr, or 24 hours if I missed the window.
I won't put anymore paint on tommorow then It looks fine now.
Did not know paint took that long to cure.
I will just be careful when I reassemble it.
I will wait till sunday morning to reassemble it and Take it for a ride.

If you're going to assemble so soon, be very careful. It's easy to scratch paint that hasn't had a week to cure. Every time I jumped the gun, I was sorry, no matter how careful I was.

Agreed. I wait a full week on everything I paint, even though I "bake" everything in the sun all day long each day, & bring the stuff in at night.
Whenever my stepmom who lives behind me, sees me hanging my parts on the line each day, she says I'm hanging my "metal laundry" again. :)

Funny! I used to hang parts on the clothesline, but all those little bugs ended up in the paint so now I "launder" them in the garage.
Avoid the temptation to throw a set of 1000 watt work lights on your drying paint - I tried that once and ended up with a finish that looked like the dried, cracking desert.

From what I understand, baking requires conditions that can't be duplicated by lights alone.

That's true. Thus, the quote marks on the word.
The searing heat of this blazing South Carolina sun may help a bit though, & if nothing else, prolly at least speeds up the curing process.

Yeah mine will be in the sun all day.
Ok I will wait on reassembly.
Just irks me that it took me so long to build.
And now I have to wait till the paint cures.
Next One is getting xiom powder coat Purple with Glow in the dark.
Then I can reassemble the same dang day.

That Xion looks like quite a system. Certainly out of my price range.
It appears to be spraying melted plastic.

Well fortunately.
I dont have to buy one.
Just take my frame to the local buskirk shop they are a dealer for xiom.
One of 3 in the country.
They have a lot of different coatins I was amazed at how many.
http://www.xiom-corp.com/
They offer inhouse powder coating.
At cost of about 100 bucks for my frame he said.
I sent him a pic and dimensions.
He said bring him my frame he would let me know exactly.
Unfortunately wife got laid off. So it will be a little while before I can scrape funds up.
Maybe on my next build..
Any one close in indiana wants a demo email these guys.
